I did some testing on this today, since our AT&T rep didn’t believe me.  Verizon clearly won.  This was testing from Las Vegas to the Switch pop in Las Vegas.  Notice the extremely high AT&T ping times.  Testing was performed minutes apart, browser was closed and cache emptied between tests.  Testing was performed on a Dell Studio XPS 16, 4GB, i7.  Nothing else was running in the background.

Verizon – USB  – 760 – Modem – Firefox

AT&T – USBConnect Mercury – Firefox

Most likely you have a 64 bit version of windows 7 and this is a known issue.

  1. Run Command Prompt as administrator:
    1. Start Menu -> All Programs -> Accessories
    2. Right click on Command Prompt and select Run as administrator
  2. Type the following command in the prompt: reg delete “HKCU\SOFTWARE\Classes\Wow6432Node\CLSID\{B54F3741-5B07-11CF-A4B0-00AA004A55E8}” /f, then hit Enter.
  3. Next, you must also type the following command: c:\windows\syswow64\regsvr32 vbscript.dll, then hit Enter.
