Solved – Extend C Drive (System Partition) in Windows 10 for free.

Use recovery partition to add space to C drive in Windows 10.

  1.  First go to the application recovery drive.
  2. Create a recovery drive
  3. At the end of the process select to delete recovery partition.
  4. The head over to this link to download a free partition tool.
  5. First delete the volume for the old recovery partition, example drive E.
  6. Then right click on the empty volume and  select MERGE Partitions.
  7. Select C and E to merge.
  8. Apply then you will get prompted to reboot.

I just did this process of a Surface Pro with Windows 10 and was able to add about 7.5GB to my C drive.

Fixed – Excel 2013 – There was a problem sending the command to the program

After I upgraded to Windows 10 my Excel 2013 would no longer work correctly. I got the following message:

“There was a problem sending the command to the program”

The fix was to right click on the shortcut and properties –>compatibility tab –> Un-Check “Run this program as an administrator”

After the above setting change I could then open excel files without issue.
