Get more space on your C drive-disable hibernation in Windows 7

To make hibernation unavailable in Windows 7, follow these steps:

  1. Click Start, and then type cmd in the Start Search box.
  2. In the search results list, right-click Command Prompt, and then click Run as Administrator.
  3. When you are prompted by User Account Control, click Continue.
  4. At the command prompt, type powercfg.exe /hibernate off, and then press Enter.

I used these steps to free up about 15gb of space on my c drive!

Download the latest version of TDSSKiller from here and save it to c:\temp

Before running tdsskiller rename it to gotcha.exe

Right click on it and run as administrator

If malicious objects are found, they will show in the Scan results and offer three (3) options.

Ensure Cure is selected, then click Continue => Reboot now to finish the cleaning process.
